WHY HONORS?
Starting Honors Program has been a great experience for me. Being part of this program, is excited because I am sharing class with other students who are on the same page as me intellectually. I always make sure to learn something new from different people in this program. Last semester, Fall 2022, I took the first honors class, HONR 201, Introduction to Honors. That class has helped me see better what academic life is at Minnesota State University.
I created my eportfolio, which had my Why Honors essay, My Leadership essay, Research & Scholarly essay and the Intercultural Engagement essay.

My experience at Minnesota State University has been pretty impressive since I transferred here. Since I have been part of the Honors Program, I have accomplished a lot of things related to my academic achievements. I have done a lot of researches in my health classes, which I will use as reflections for my final e-portfolio in HONR 475. This program is also a great way to create the connections I need with my professors. I am also updated with different school events that the Honors Program Newsletter notifies once a week. I like being part of a community that shares the same goals, which are to be successful in life and be involved in helping the community with our knowledge.

My participation in the Honors Program, has helped me grow personally and academically too. Honors Program takes a lot out of students in terms of effort, time, dedication, sincerity, and discipline. I am taking this semester another honor class, HONR 455, Honors Practicum, which is allowing me to do an internship, as I planned in my first honors class, HONR 201, Introduction to Honors. I had it planned for a long time but being part of Honors Program made it happen. This experience is helping me develop more leadership experience, since I am working with elderly people in a nursing home. In the class, HONR 455, I am giving reflections monthly about my work in the internship, where at the end of the year I will give my final reflection about the whole experience, since is developing one of my competency areas.

I am grateful everyday about being part of Honors Program, and attending an American university as an international student, as it is many students dream to be here and have this opportunity, so I should be giving my best in every aspect and take full advantage of this whole experience.
